We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Trades Assistant to work in our Trailer Workshop located in our Mount Barker Depot.

Whilst this role is an entry level position, attention to detail is essential for the role as its very hands-on and a vital area to our workplace.  The role of Mechanical Trades Assistant would suit someone wanting to enter the Transport Industry to gain experience and skills that can be further developed as on the job training is provided.  Our workshop staff work Monday to Friday from 7.30am till 5.00pm. 

The successful candidate will be expected to: 

• Have a basic understanding and/or interest in the Transport Industry
• Perform repairs and maintenance to equipment
• Ensure that equipment is up to standard after maintenance as per our forms
• Ensure that the tool locker is kept clean and free of clutter and that tools are maintained and stored appropriately
• Ensure that workspace and racking are kept tidy and be in a presentable condition
• Perform Tyre Fitting duties as per relevant SOP
• Undertake basic welding duties as required
• Perform yard duties as requested from time to time
• Complete all required      paperwork appropriately
• Perform any other duties as required

There’s the possibility to work towards a diesel mechanical apprenticeship, or an MC driver role for the suitable applicant. 

Remuneration will be negotiated based on experience.
